Federal Bank - Officer Scale 1 Syllabus, Exam Pattern
132 topics across 6 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.
Federal Bank, Officer Scale 1 is officer-grade entry into Federal Bank, a private sector bank headquartered in Aluva, Kerala, with a national branch network. For the clerical route see Federal Bank.
There's no Federal Bank officer exam in the public sense. The Bank isn't part of IBPS, has no annual calendar, and has no standing pattern, syllabus or cut-off. It advertises particular roles when it needs them, with short windows, on its own portal: federalbankcareers.zappyhire.com, branded Talent Connect and linked from federal.bank.in/careers.
Recent officer entries have been sales roles: Sales Officer, Corporate Salary; Associate Officer (Sales); Officer, Sales and Client Acquisition. That means targets and a client book, which is a different job from a public sector PO placed into general banking.
The Bank has also recruited officers through a Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance, where you complete a course at a partner institute before joining, paying for it yourself or through a loan. The fee, any stipend and any bond are in that role's notification.
As at 9 September 2026 Talent Connect had no live registrations.

Federal Bank - Officer Scale 1 Details
Exam Pattern
Federal Bank publishes no scheme of examination. Each role's mode of selection is in its own notification, under View Details on Talent Connect.
Selection leans on assessment and interview rather than a long written paper. The usual components:
| Component | What it involves |
|---|---|
| Online assessment | Where used, reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English, and general and banking awareness |
| Psychometric assessment | Measures consistency and fit. Nothing to revise |
| Group discussion | Where used, on a current affairs, business or banking topic |
| Interview | Used in every route, and where the decision is made |
The role decides which apply and in what order. The portal shows each role's work location, experience requirement and closing time before you open the notification.
Syllabus
Where an online assessment applies, expect a standard bank aptitude test.
- English: reading comprehension, cloze test, para jumbles, error spotting, sentence improvement, fill in the blanks, vocabulary and idioms.
- Quantitative Aptitude: data interpretation, number series, quadratic equations, simplification, percentage, ratio, average, profit and loss, interest, time and work, speed and distance, mixtures, mensuration, permutation and combination, probability.
- Reasoning: puzzles and seating arrangement, syllogism, inequality, blood relations, direction, ranking, coding-decoding, data sufficiency, input-output, critical reasoning.
- General Awareness: six months of current affairs with a banking bias, RBI and monetary policy, banking products and regulation, payment systems, financial inclusion, the Budget and Economic Survey.
- Sales Awareness: sales process and prospecting, customer relationship management, segmentation, positioning deposits, loans, cards, insurance and investments, cross-selling, complaint handling, and selling ethics. IBPS PO material doesn't cover this.
For the group discussion and interview, know Federal Bank itself: history, network, leadership, products and latest results.
Eligibility Criteria
A graduate or post-graduate degree with the minimum percentage set in the advertisement, commonly around 60% at graduation and often with minimums at class 10 and class 12 too. Some roles want particular streams. This is stricter than public sector officer recruitment and is the commonest reason for rejection.
Age is broadly up to 26 years for officer entry, on the date in the advertisement. Category relaxations aren't automatic; the advertisement says what applies.
Some roles need experience. The Sales Officer, Corporate Salary listing wanted 2 years in BFSI; the other recent roles took freshers.
Selection Process
- Online aptitude test, 90 minutes, one overall time limit.
- Psychometric assessment.
- Group discussion.
- Personal interview.
Then document checks and medical fitness, and on the PGDBF route the residential programme before joining. Only one of the four stages is written, so preparing just for the aptitude test covers a quarter of it.
Salary
Federal Bank doesn't publish a pay scale. As a private bank it isn't bound by the bipartite settlement that fixes public sector scales, so pay is set by the Bank and discussed during selection. Each role's notification under View Details gives its terms.
On the PGDBF route, the course cost, any stipend and any bond are the substance of the offer, and none of them is a salary. Read them carefully.
How to Apply
Federal Bank's site moved to federal.bank.in (the old federalbank.co.in redirects), under the RBI's .bank.in scheme. The careers page has no vacancies on it; its Explore Opportunities link goes to federalbankcareers.zappyhire.com, Talent Connect.
- Find the role on Talent Connect. Each shows work location, experience needed, and a closing date and time, often 23:59 on a named date.
- Open View Details and read the notification. Save a copy; it may disappear once the role closes.
- Register and apply before the deadline.
If nothing matches, use Register in Talent Connect to store a profile for future roles. Location is fixed by the role (recent ones ranged from anywhere in India to Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka), and applying means accepting it.
Participating Institutes
Federal Bank only: a private sector bank headquartered in Aluva, Kerala, with a national branch network and, by its own account, nearly a century of operation.
| Federal Bank | A public sector bank | |
|---|---|---|
| Recruiter | Its own Talent Connect portal | Usually IBPS |
| Calendar | None; role by role | Broadly annual |
| Pattern | Set per role | Published and stable |
| Pay | Not published as a scale | Bipartite settlement |
| Cut-offs | Not published | Published |
IBPS Clerk or PO allotment will never send anyone to Federal Bank.
Exam Centres
There may be no centre, because there may be no written exam. Where an online assessment is used it's typically remote or at a venue the Bank names; interviews and psychometric tests are at the Bank's venue. The role's notification says which.
Bring original certificates and ID to any in-person stage, since the Bank checks them during selection. Nothing on the portal promises travel allowance.
Important Dates
There's no calendar. Roles open as needed, and the portal shows only a closing date and time, so you get no advance notice. As at 9 September 2026 nothing was open. Recent listings:
| Role | Work location | Experience | Registration closed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sales Officer, Corporate Salary | as per recruitment details | minimum 2 years in the BFSI sector | 31 August 2026 |
| Apprentice | Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka | freshers and experienced | 17 March 2026 |
| Associate Officer (Sales) | as per notification | freshers and experienced | 4 March 2026 |
| Office Assistant | anywhere in India | freshers and experienced | 11 January 2026 |
| Officer, Sales and Client Acquisition | anywhere in India | freshers and experienced | 31 October 2025 |
Five roles in about ten months, mostly sales-led and open to freshers. Register a profile on federalbankcareers.zappyhire.com and check it regularly.
Admit Card
There's no admit card. Federal Bank contacts you directly about each stage, by the email and mobile number on your Talent Connect application. Keep both live and check your spam folder.
Result
No public results are published: no merit lists, shortlists or marks. A successful candidate gets an offer directly. An unsuccessful one often hears nothing, which is normal for a private bank.
Talent Connect only shows each role as open or Registration Closed.
Cut Off
There's no cut-off for this recruitment. Federal Bank doesn't rank a national field in a common exam; it fills each role from whoever applied.
The real filters are the experience line on the listing and the qualification in the role's notification on Talent Connect. There's no waiting list either.
Preparation Tips
- Cover Sales Awareness. IBPS PO material leaves it out entirely.
- Practise group discussion and interview. Three of the four stages aren't written.
- Answer the psychometric test consistently. It's built to catch candidates guessing what the Bank wants.
- Practise against one overall clock. Ninety minutes with no sectional timing needs a plan you've rehearsed.
- Check the percentage requirement and bond terms before applying.
- Read the Bank's latest results and current banking news.
Sample Papers
No sample papers or previous year papers are available for this exam as of now. Federal Bank holds no standing exam and releases no papers or keys.
The role's own notification under View Details on federalbankcareers.zappyhire.com is the only description of its selection. Roles are posted there whenever the Bank needs them.
