Mathematics or Biology4016032 per cent
Physics3514028 per cent
Chemistry3514028 per cent
Aptitude10408 per cent
English5204 per cent

There's no qualifying mark and no sectional cut-off in VITEEE; it produces a rank. If the exam is cancelled for causes beyond VIT's control, higher secondary marks may be used instead.

Syllabus

VIT publishes the syllabus as five separate documents on viteee.vit.ac.in: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, and English and Aptitude in one file.

Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology follow the Class 11 and 12 curriculum, so JEE or board preparation covers them. English (5 questions) and Aptitude (10 questions) are the parts JEE material doesn't touch: 15 questions, 60 of the 500 marks. Work those from VIT's combined English and Aptitude document.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

  • Resident or Non-Resident Indian nationals, OCI and PIO card holders can sit VITEEE.
  • Foreign passport holders aren't eligible for VITEEE and apply through the International route.
  • NRIs can apply directly under the NRI category, with a separate form. An Indian passport holder whose parents work abroad can apply both ways, as two applications.

Age

For VITEEE 2026, date of birth on or after 1 July 2004. The Class X certificate date counts, and the original must be shown at counselling or the candidature is disqualified.

Qualifying exams accepted

  • 10+2 of a recognised Central or State Board, including CBSE and CISCE.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University.
  • GCE A level, London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka.
  • Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel High School Certificate: Physics and Mathematics at A Level, Chemistry and English at A or AS for PCM; Physics and Biology at A Level for PCB.
  • IB Diploma: Physics and Mathematics at HL and Chemistry at SL or HL for PCM; Physics and Biology at HL for PCB.
  • NIOS Senior Secondary with at least five subjects.

Class 12 completed abroad needs an equivalence certificate. Only regular, full time, formal education counts, and anyone who sat multiple board exams in the same academic year is ineligible. Improvement and private candidates can apply.

Marks

RouteAggregateSingle-subject minimum
PCM60 per cent in Mathematics, Physics and ChemistryNot less than 50 per cent in Mathematics
PCB60 per cent in Biology, Physics and ChemistryNot less than 50 per cent in Biology
SC and ST, and candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura50 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or BiologyAs applicable

The 50 per cent concession needs a community or nativity certificate at counselling. It's the PCM or PCB aggregate that counts, not the overall: VIT says 62 per cent overall with 53 per cent in PCM does not qualify.

BPCEA opens six programmes only

MPCEA with the PCM marks opens every B.Tech. programme. BPCEA, or a PCB candidate who took MPCEA, opens only these:

ProgrammeCampus
B.Tech. BiotechnologyVIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT-AP
B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Bioinformatics)VIT Vellore
B.Tech. Health Sciences and TechnologyVIT Vellore
B.Tech. BioengineeringVIT Bhopal
B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Health Informatics)VIT Bhopal
B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Education Technology)VIT Bhopal

The full criteria are in the VITEEE Prospectus.

Selection Process
  1. Rank from the computer based test.
  2. Online counselling in rank order.
  3. You give options for campus, programme and category of fees.
  4. Allotment on rank and available options.
  5. VIT verifies eligibility after you pay the tuition fee. Documents are produced on reporting or when the Office of Admissions asks.

A provisional admission is valid only if eligibility is fulfilled.

Once allotted, there's no sliding, no upgradation in category, no change of campus and no change of branch. Most counselling lets you hold a seat and wait for a better one; VIT doesn't. Fill your options as a final list.

Salary

VITEEE is an admission test, so no pay attaches to it. What your rank buys is the choice of campus, programme and fee category at counselling. Fee structures are published programme by programme on the VIT admissions site; read them before counselling, because the category can't be changed later.

  • STARS (Support the Advancement of Rural Students Scheme): a 100 per cent fee waiver covering academic, hostel and basic medical costs, for district toppers, boys and girls, from rural Government schools in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
  • Hostel is compulsory for freshers unless a parent or guardian lives with the student.
  • Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS): you pick your timetable and teachers, and can take fewer or more courses within limits.
  • International Transfer Programme (ITP): two years at VIT, two at a partner university abroad.
  • Semester Abroad Programme (SAP): the final semester at a partner university abroad.

Participating Institutes

One VITEEE rank covers all four campuses: VIT Vellore and VIT Chennai (Deemed to be University), and VIT-AP and VIT Bhopal (state private universities).

  • VIT Vellore has the widest list, including Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation, Information Technology, Health Sciences and Technology, Civil Engineering with L&T, and Computer Science and Business Systems with TCS.
  • VIT Chennai: Fashion Technology, Mechatronics and Automation, Mechanical (Electric Vehicles), Electronics (VLSI Design and Technology), and a 2+2 dual degree in Cyber Security with Deakin University.
  • VIT-AP: Computer Science and Business Systems, CSE in Blockchain, Cyber Security, Data Analytics and Software Engineering, and Mechanical (Automotive Design) and (Robotics).
  • VIT Bhopal: Aerospace Engineering, Bioengineering, CSE in Cloud Computing and Automation, Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, E-Commerce Technology, Education Technology, Gaming Technology and Health Informatics, and ECE (Artificial Intelligence and Cybernetics).

The full programme lists are under Programmes Offered on viteee.vit.ac.in.

Exam Centres

VITEEE runs at centres across India and abroad over several days; the number of days varies by test city. The city list is in the VITEEE Prospectus.

You book your own city, date and time through VIT's Online Test Booking System (OTBS) with your application number and password. It's first come, first served, and neither the slot nor the city can be changed once booked. Miss booking and the fee isn't refunded.

Bring the e-admit card and an original photo ID: Aadhaar, driving licence, PAN, passport, voter ID or school ID.

Admit Card

There's no fixed admit card date. Once you book a slot in OTBS, you download the admit card from the OTBS portal. It carries the photo you uploaded with the application. Bring it with an original photo ID.

Result

The result is a merit rank, published on viteee.vit.ac.in. In 2026 it was due in the second week of May, with online counselling starting the same week. There's no qualifying mark, percentile or sectional cut-off. A rank doesn't secure a seat on its own: eligibility is checked after you pay the tuition fee.

Cut Off

VIT doesn't publish VITEEE cut-off ranks. It says admissions differ from year to year, that you can only estimate the rank range for a branch after you're ranked and attend counselling, and warns candidates not to believe social media sources. Counselling opens on viteee.vit.ac.in in the second week of May.

Preparation Tips
  1. Prepare English and Aptitude. They're 60 of the 500 marks, and JEE preparation covers neither.
  2. Answer before you flag. A question marked for review without an answer scores zero.
  3. Guess only when you can eliminate. With four options and minus one, a blind guess is worth nothing on average; knock out one option and it's positive.
  4. Take MPCEA if you can. BPCEA opens six programmes; MPCEA opens all of them. A PCB student who also did Mathematics can take MPCEA.
  5. Book your OTBS slot the day booking opens. It's first come, first served and can't be changed.
  6. Use VIT's MPCEA or BPCEA mock test, enabled about a month before the exam, to learn the interface. Time yourself at 125 questions in 150 minutes.
  7. Check your PCM or PCB aggregate, not your overall percentage, and the 50 per cent subject minimum.
  8. Treat your counselling options as final. Read the fee structure first, and decide in advance how you'd trade branch against campus.
Sample Papers

VIT doesn't release past VITEEE papers. It publishes separate MPCEA and BPCEA mock tests in the real test interface on viteee.vit.ac.in, enabled about a month before the exam (March in the 2026 cycle), along with the five syllabus documents.
