Which purpose does a side repeater indicator serve?
Answer: A
A repeater lets a driver alongside or at a junction see the signal that the front and rear lamps do not show them. Side marker lamps genuinely mark the presence of longer vehicles, which makes the last option a real lamp with a different purpose. Tracing the requirement back to the physical constraint that produces it makes the answer follow. Working the distinction through on a single concrete case fixes it more firmly than any rule of thumb. Working one numerical case through both cases side by side fixes the distinction better than any rule of thumb.
