A zener diode :

Answer: A
A zener diode has a sharp breakdown at low reverse voltage.
A zener diode is a heavily doped silicon diode designed to work in reverse breakdown. Its breakdown voltage is low and precisely set during manufacture, and once it is reached the voltage across the diode stays nearly constant over a wide range of current. That sharp, stable breakdown is what makes it useful as a voltage regulator and reference.
A diode cannot amplify. Negative resistance is the property of the tunnel diode, and in the forward direction a zener behaves like an ordinary silicon diode, with a drop of about 0.7 V, not a high forward voltage.
